A championship is on the line Wednesday as the Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues face off in Game 7 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final.
The Bruins seek their first Stanley Cup title since 2011, while the Blues have never hoisted the coveted trophy. Boston is favored at home in the latest Bruins vs. Blues odds for Game 7 at -167 on the money line (risk $167 to win $100), The Bruins are favored and have the momentum heading into the series-deciding matchup, with their offense finally finding some footing in a 5-1 Game 6 rout, and with the home ice of TD Garden set to play host to a potential title-winning victory. But the Blues have been counted out all season, only to storm back into contention and steal the spotlight, starting with having the worst record in the NHL in January and riding a late season tsunami into the playoffs.
St. Louis Blues at Boston Bruins: By the Numbers
⇒Home-ice advantage hasn’t meant a lot to either team, as the home team is just 2-4 so far during this season, with each team 1-2.
⇒Through six games in the Stanley Cup Finals, we have had just two one-goal decisions.
⇒The Bruins have outscored the Blues 21-14 through the first six games, so win or lose Boston is likely to outscore St. Louis in this series.
⇒Rask has posted 15 victories with a 1.93 goals-against average and .938 save percentage, top of the charts in all three categories during the postseason.
⇒Speaking of Rask, in three elimination games this postseason, he has been stellar: He’s gone 3-0 with a 1.34 GAA and .953 save percentage.
St. Louis Blues at Boston Bruins: NHL Best Bet
Moneyline: St. Louis has won in Boston twice in this series, but can they do it again for a third time in four games? The Blues (+145) are tempting at this price level, but the experience of the Bruins (-170) and the fact they’re at home makes Boston the play in this one, although personally I don’t care to eat that much chalk.
Against the spread: The Blues (+1.5, -200) are rather expensive, but this one should be a tight checking game with few chances and a low score. It is risky business to take the B’s on the moneyline and Blues on the puck line, but it’s easy to see it hitting, too. The Bruins (-1.5, +170) are the better play on home ice, however.
Over/under: The UNDER (5.5, -145) is the way to go, as neither side is going to want to pinch in and gamble for scoring chances, risking an odd-man rush the other way. Look for both goaltenders to be on point and this game to go well under.
